Turtle Doves

The gentle purr of the turtle dove is an evocative sound of summer. Sadly, one that is increasingly rare these days.

Long grass is great for mini-beasts.

Raising the mower height and cutting less often really benefits a host of insects. You can even leave patches (or all) of the lawn to become a mini-meadow

Garden Tiger moth

The caterpillars of this moth feed on a wide variety of herbaceous plants, including Nettle, Dock, Burdocks, Hounds's-tongue and many garden plants

Flower Beetle

Swollen-thighed, or Thick-legged flower Beetle

Wildlife Pond

Creating a pond in your garden is one of the best things you can do to attract a host of wildlife.

Dragonfly

Four-spotted Chaser

Wild Garlic

Ransoms carpets the woodland floor

Dandelions

Not a weed, a wild flower, great for wildlife

Parasol mushrooms

Autumn/early winter is one of the best times to look out for the amazing variety of fungi

Moth trapping

A moth trap left out on a warm night reveals it’s treasures the following morning – all moths unharmed and set free the following evening.
